Cora Maust, daughter of Bruce and Lizze Fike Maust, was born near Sanborn, Iowa on June 19, 1892. She lived her youth to young womanhood in this vicinity. She was united in marriage to William Brendle of rural Sanborn, Iowa on September 2, 1914, at Melvin, Iowa. After their marriage they farmed north of Sanborn, Iowa until the death of her husband, William, in 1946. She remained on the farm for one year after his death and then moved into the town of Sanborn, Iowa. She lived there until entering the Community Memorial Hospital at Sheldon,Iowa and passed away there on November 29, 1977. She is survived by one son, Donald, and his wife Sadie, of Rose Creek, Minn.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Maust, of Lansing, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. William (Alice) Carpenter of Fonda, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, in 1946; one daughter, Vera, in 1975; five brothers and two sisters. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John' s Lutheran Church of Sanborn, Iowa in 1915 and was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Sanborn, Iowa. Services were conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church of Sanborn on December 2, 1977 with Rev. Michael Holsten officiating. Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Source: The Sanborn Pioneer, Thursday, December 8th, 1977.
