Holman Township Cemetery, Sibley, IowaLloyd Earle Runia, son of John and Gertie (Ketel) was born on December 12, 1933, in rural Sibley. He attended country school in Osceola County.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Buysman on March 1, 1955, in Sibley, Iowa.
Lloyd volunteered for the service and was inducted on March 14, 1955. Evelyn and Lloyd lived in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, until he left for a year to serve in Germany.
In 1957, they moved to a farm in rural Sibley. In 2000, they retired and moved to Sibley.
He was an active member of the Christian Reformed Church, where he served faithfully as elder and deacon. He also served on the Christian School Board.
Lloyd's hobbies were woodworking, hunting, trapping, and fishing with his family. Lloyd always had a great concern for his children and grandchildren.
Lloyd passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at the age of seventy-five at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab, due to declining health from Parkinson's.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Wanda and Joe Wildeman of Sheldon, IA; their children, Laura and Jeremiah Johnson, Christopher and Kristina Wildeman; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Caiden Wildeman; son Calvin Runia of Sibley, IA; his children, Travis and Jason Runia; son Duane Runia of Sibley, IA; son Leon and Melissa Runia of Sibley, IA, and their children, Kaileen, Dylan, and Nathaniel Runia; two sisters, LaVera Krikke of Sanborn, IA, and Marlene Runia of Sanborn, IA; and one brother, Marvin and Janice Runia of Sibley, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertie Runia, and a brother-in-law, Jake Krikke.
