Clifford Keller, age 83, of Melvin, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2007, at Avera Mc Kennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 22, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Melvin, Iowa. Rev. Thomas A. Connors officiating.

Burial in the Baker Township Cemetery in Melvin, Iowa.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 21, from 2:30 to 6:30 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 to 6:30 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Melvin.

Clifford Lowell Keller, born on February 7, 1924, in Melvin, Iowa. The son of Phillip Jacob and Ruth Amelia (Olson) Keller. During Clifford's youth, he lived on the family farm north of Melvin, purchased by his grandfather, Phillip Keller, in 1890. His father lived on this farm all of his life, for over 91 years. The family farm was purchased by Clifford in 1982. At the present time, daughter, Peggy and husband Jerry Monier, farm it. In 1990, it was designated as "A Century Farm".
Clifford attended school in Melvin and graduated from Melvin High School. He was in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Marie Stevens of Ocheyedan, Iowa, on June 29, 1947. They lived in rural Melvin, where they farmed the family farm and milked cows. Clifford was a state of Iowa meat inspector for many years. He drove school bus and was a rural mail carrier. Clifford and Shirley moved to the town of Melvin in 2003. Shirley passed away on November 29, 2006.
Clifford was a member of the United Methodist Church in Melvin. He was also a member of the American Legion, Senior Spirit Club, and a proud member of the Democratic Party. He enjoyed playing cards, watching TV, vegetable gardening, traveling, coupon shopping, and entertaining his grandchildren. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He passed away on Friday, October 19, 2007, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Those left to cherish his memories are his seven children: Susan A and spouse Phil Swanson of Marshall, MN, Lyle L. Keller of Reno, NV, Robert P. Keller and fianc�e Barbara Brown of Melvin, IA, Peggy A. and spouse Jerry Monier of Sibley, IA, Steven J. Keller of San Francisco, CA, Michael R. Keller and spouse Rick Maruca of Des Moines, IA, Danielle M. Keller and spouse Eldon Rhea of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Jennifer (Nate) Croatt and their children: Elliott and Keaton Croatt, Brian Monier, Traci (Clayton) Moore and their son: Trayton Moore, Angie Algood, Michael Sierra Keller, Fae Rhea and Garek Rhea; sister-in-law: Helene Keller of Mesa, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years: Shirley; son: Phillip Keller; his parents; one brother: Duaine Keller; brother-in-law: Raymond Stevens.
