David Kennedy McCauley was born near Paullina, May 5, 1889, and died May 15, 1928 at the age of thirty-nine years. He received his education in the schools near Paullina.

On March 7, 1911, he was united in marriage with Bertha Beebe of this place. They went immediately to Madelia, Minnesota, where they kept their home for about seven years. They then returned to Paullina to the old home farm where the only son, David Wesley, was born, and where they resided until they moved to their present home to care for Mrs. McCauley's aged father. David then went into the barber business here, in which he continued until the time of his death.

Some years ago he united with the Presbyterian church in which membership he continued until his passing.

He was seriously stricken about 2:30 pm on Monday and passed away the following morning at 3:30. His was an affectionate disposition and many will miss the jovial word and kindly greeting which he had for everyone.

Just before being stricken, he had taken his father to visit the old farm home and also the grave of his mother who preceded him in death one year ago. Two brothers and a sister had also gone on before.

David McCauley leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Bertha Beebe McCauley; one son, David Wesley; his aged father, W.J. McCauley; six sisters, Jenny Geno of Los Angeles, California; Florence Umbarger, and Ada O'Niel of Sioux City, Sarah Irvine of Primghar, Hazel Gruver of Roulean, Saskatchewant, Canada, and Edith Towe of Paullina; and two brothers, John of Omaha and Ralph of Canada.

Besides his immediate family, he will be missed by many other relatives and friends.
