Arthur Pauling Dies Suddenly Thursday - In Trucking Business

The death of Arthur Pauling, 56, early Thursday morning, March 23 came after a very short illness. In the trucking business here since 1927, Mr. Pauling died at his home after having been seriously ill only a few days.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran church. Rev. Martin Peters officiated. Burial was at the Prairie View Cemetery.

Arthur Pauling, son of Henry and Sophie Pauling, nee Ebel, was born June 15, 1893 on a farm in Caledonia Township. He was baptized the following day at his home and was later confirmed in St. John Lutheran church at Germantown.

On Nov. 25, 1925, he was married to Clara Fegebank. They lived a farm near Granville, where Mr. Pauling was engaged in carpenter work. They moved to Paullina in 1927, and since that time he has been in the trucking business.

He served his country in the armed forces during the World War I from May 26, 1918 until March 5, 1919, participating in the battle of the Argonne. He died at his home about 1 a.m. following a short illness at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 8 days.

He is survived by his wife daughter, Dorothy, one grandchild; five brothers, John of Fargo, N. D., Albert of Vesta, Minn., Henry of Lakefield, Minn., Edwin of Lamberton, Minn., and Walter of Granville; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Strampe of Paullina and Mrs. Ed Hoger of Hartley. One son, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Emil Pauling, William Pauling, Alfred Pauling, Edwin Ebel, Walter Ebel and William Ebel. In charge of the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Paulsen, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhart Massmann, Geraldine Pauling and Verla Strampe.
