William F. Rohlfsen Obituary
William F. Rohlfsen, the son of Hans and Fredericka Rohlfsen, was born on August 30, 1877 in Cherokee County, Iowa. He attended rural schools in Cherokee County and spent his youth in this area. Following his grade school education he attended the business college at Davenport, Iowa.
In December of 1900 he was united in marriage to Minnie Steinberg. To this union twelve children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Rohlfsen farmed northwest of Paullina until 1944. It was at this time they moved to Sioux City. In 1950, Mr. and Mrs. Rohlfsen had the happy occasion to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
About two months ago Mr. Rohlfsen moved to Paullina to make his home at the local nursing home. On Friday of last week he was taken to Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar where he passed away at the age of 95 years, 9 months and 22 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing his 6 sons, Orville of Newell, Elmer of Jackson, Minnesota, Harry of Paullina, Ralph of Sioux City, Glenn of Cherokee, Clarence of Granville and 6 daughters, (Lillian) Mrs. Ray Hattermann of Paullina, (Verna) Mrs. Leslie Strickland of Topeka, Kansas, (Edna) Mrs. Willis Sandin of Los Angeles, California, (Minnie) Mrs. Howard Halstrom of Paullina, (Irma) Mrs. James Bradley of Los Angeles, California and (Helen) Mrs. Norman Schulz of Solvang, California. He is also survived by one brother, Henry of Mound, Minnesota, 35 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
His parents, his wife, one grandson and one great-grandson preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. June 25, 1973 at Zion Lutheran Church, Paullina, with Rev Donald Johnson in charge, committal was in the Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
