Last Rites Held for Albert Adolph Wednesday

Funeral services for Albert Adolph were held Wednesday, July 7 at the United Methodist Church in Hartley. Rev. Wm. Tomlinson officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley,with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Masonic services were conducted by Beacon Lodge, #495 AF and AM, Hartley

Albert Adolph, the son of Fred and Hannah Brehm Adolph, was born on August 21, 1893 at Hartley, Iowa. He attended school near his boyhood home.

He was united in marriage to Edith Dawson at Hartley on September 1, 1914. They lived their married life in Hartley, where he operated an express and drayline business, and also a DX tank truck service until his retirement in 1960. It was in 1965 that Edith passed away, and on August 28, 1966, he was united in marriage to Elsie Linder at Hartley, where they continued to make their home.

He was a 60 year member of the Beacon Lodge #495 AF and AM, one of the original members of the Hartley Fire Department, and held the position of Fire Chief, and was a member of the Hartley City Council. He was also a member of the Hartley United Methodist Church.

He passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital in Hartley on July 4, 1982, having reached the age of 88 years. he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; his parents, and one brother, Fred Adolph, Jr.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elsie; one son, Weldon and his wife Celia of Tujunga, California; on daughter, Mrs. Arlo (Dolores) Snider of Hartley; three grandchildren, Jo Adolph, Craig Snider and Kevin Snider; four great-grandchildren, Dana and Jason Adolph, Kristi and Anne Snider; one brother, W.T. "Duke" Adolph of Spencer; other relatives and friends.
