Harry John "Hap" Wiese

Funeral services in memory of Harry "Hap" John Wiese were conduced at 1:30 pm Saturday, January 24, 1998, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Eve. Milo Sheldon officiated. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery of Hartley. Warner Baumgarten Funeral Home of Hartley was in charge of the arrangements.

Harry John "Hap" Wiese, the son of William and Lena Meier Wiese, was born October 12, 1907 in Hartley, Iowa. His childhood years were spend near Moneta, Iowa, where he receivd his early education.

Hap married Marie Mohni on January 20, 1934 in Hartley. They began farming near Hartley following their marriage, and it was there they made their home until moving into town in 1978.

Hap was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where he had served as youth advisor for several years. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau. Hap was an avid sports fan, having enjoyed playing baseball and softball, as weell as watching basketball.

Mr. Wiese passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley on January 20, 1998, at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother, and another brother in infancy.

Hap is survived by his wife, Marie; two daughters and their husbands: Arlys and Darold "Mick" Rost of Hartley, and Karen and Roget Frick of Bloomington, Minnesota; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters: Sadie Allano of San Jose California, and Edna Burton of Bellevue, Washington; one brother and his wife, Donald and Dorothy Wiese of Walnut Creek California; other relatives and many friends.
