Services in memory of Arlo Dwain Snider were conducted at 10:30 am Saturday, February 21, 2004, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, Iowa. V. Howard Campbell officiated. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Warner Funeral Home of Hartley was in charge of the arrangements.
Arlo Dwain Snider, the son of Erwin and Ida Hennig Snider, was born January 28, 1921, in Hartley, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Hartley where he received his education, graduating from Hartley High School in 1940.
Following his schooling, Arlo entered the military in 1942, serving with the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged o October 12, 1945.
On August 29, 1944, Arlo married Dolores Adolph in Los Angeles, California. Following their marriage, they returned to live in Hartley in 1945. Arlo owned and operated Arlo's Service Station until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, American Legion, and past member of the Masonic Lodge, the Consistory, City Council, Hospital Board, Chamber of Commerce, and charter member of the Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed golfing very much.
Arlo passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dolores on December 20, 2002; one brother, Glen; and one brother in law, Weldon Adolph.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Craig and his wife Konnie Snider of Osage, Iowa, and Kevin Snider of Hartley; four grandchildren: [redacted]; three sisters: Lucille Rogers and Gladys McCroskey, both of Hartley and Luva Montgomery and her husband, Charles of Brentwood, Tennessee; on sister-in-law, Si Adolph of Tujunga, California, as well as other relatives and many many great friends.
