Mrs. Tom Byers

Funeral services for Mrs. Tom Byers were held Tuesday, June 14, 1960 at 2:00 p.m. at Seivert's Funeral Home in Primghar with the Reverend Robert W. Lea officiating. Interment was made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar.

Mrs. Donald Larson sang "Come Ye Disconsolate" and "Nearer My God To Thee". Mrs. Charles Duhrkopf was the pianist. Pallbearers were Joe Dorschner, Wes Conn, Alfred Lorenzen, Nick Pierson, Al Chambers and Chris Luhrs. Mrs. George Smith and Mrs. Tom Irvine were in charge of the flower arrangements.

Mrs. Tom Byers nee Anna Lucille Hartwig, daughter of Charles and Margaret Hartwig, was born on September 15, 1893 at Gladbrook, Iowa and departed from this life on Sunday, June 12, 1960 at the age of 66 years, 8 months, and 29 days.

She was baptized into the German Lutheran faith at an early age and in 1899 the family moved to O'Brien County and settled on a farm near Calumet. Iowa. Later they moved to Primghar, Iowa.

She was married on September 15, 1913 to Tom Byers, son of Andrew and Margaret Byers of Primghar. On March 17, 1960 she was confined to the Brundage Nursing Home in Primghar and remained there until her death.

She is survived by her husband, Tom, one sister, Mrs. Dewey Henderson of Des Moines, one daughter, Mrs. Norene Peckham of Altadene, California, a son, Vernon of La Puente, California, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 5 nieces and 3 nephews.
