Dorothy L. Shook, 81, Sioux City, died Sunday, March 3, 1996, at her residence after a long illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. at Crescent Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Hotle officiating. The body was cremated. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Shook was born November 24, 1914, in Sutherland, Iowa, the daughter of Leroy and Leatha (Dodge) Draper. She attended schools in Sutherland and graduated from Sutherland Highs School in 1931. She moved to Sioux City in 1933 and attended National Business Training School in 1934. she married Lorne N. Shook December 7, 1936, in Vermillion, South Dakota.

Mrs. Shook was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, boating, fishing, sewing, and traveling.

Surviors include her husband; a son, Gary Shook and his wife, Susan, of Fort Collins, Colorado; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Shook of Sioux City; six grandsons [redacted] and eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Merlyn Draper of Sutherland; two sisters, Joyce Hicks of Scranton, Iowa and Delores Briggs of Cherokee, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by a son, Allan Shook; a brother, Robert Draper, and a great-granddaughter, Amber Shook.

A memorial has been established in her name for the United Parkinsons Foundation, Chicago, Illinois.
