Jonas Stangeland In Fatal Accident; Last Rites Held Tuesday

Funeral services for Jonas Stangeland, 62, who was killed Saturday when struck by a car, were held Tuesday afternoon at his home in Primghar and at the Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina. The Rev. Pl. L. Kvitne conducted the services. The Rev. E.S. Skaar spoke on behalf of the family.

Mr. Stangeland, a well-known lifetime resident of this area, was struck by a car as we was walking across the road to his own farm after visiting with a neighbor.

The son of Lars and Martha Stangeland, he was born January 14, 1893, near Paullina, and the family moved to a farm near Primghar in 1895. He was married to Carrie Lura of Montrose, South Dakota, October 5, 1918, and they lived on the home place until 1949, moving then to a new home in Primghar.

He took an active part in church and community affairs, and was a member of Siloam Lutheran church of Paullina, holding various offices within the congregation.

Survivors include the widow and two children: Mrs. E.S. (Lois) Skaar of Glenwood City, Wisconsin and Elmer of Primghar; two sisters, Mrs. Andreas Stangeland and Mrs. Isaac Thompson, three grandchildren and many other relatives.

Arrangements were made by the Cowan and Gaudian Funeral Home of Paullina.
