Services held for Andrew Stangeland

Funeral services for Andrew Stangeland were held Wednesday, November 8, 1989, at Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. R.S. Roesler officiating. The final resting place is [West] Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, Iowa, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

Obituary

Andrew Stangeland was born on January 10, 1894 in Sandnes, Norway. He received his education in Norway before coming to the United States in May of 1909. He was fourteen years old when he came to the Paullina area to begin farming.

He farmed one year in Germantown before his marriage to Rosella nee Stangeland on Jun 7, 1919, in Primghar. After their marriage, they farmed in Argusville, North Dakota, for several years before returning to Iowa. They farmed in Dale Township in O'Brien County.

His wife preceded him in death on February 2, 1963, in Paullina. Andrew lived for many years in the Sutherland and Paullina area before making his home in the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina for the last two years. He passed away at the home on Sunday, November 5, 1989, reaching the age of 95 years, 9 months and 25 days.

Andrew leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Buse of Paullina, and Mrs. Lillian Flaugh of Archer; one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Marie Stangeland of Archer; also 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; one brother-in-law, Isaac Thompson of Paullina; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
