1924- John E. Thompson -1979

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, 1979 at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, Primghar, for John E. Thompson. Father Donald Ries officiated.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Primghar. Military services conducted by Chateau-Theirry Legion Post No. 36. Gaudian Eldridge Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

John Emmett Thompson was born January 26, 1924, in Sanborn, Iowa, the son of Sidwell and Nellie Burns Thompson.

Mr. Thompson died March 1 at Iowa City following a short illness.

He received his education in rural schools and graduated from Primghar High School in 1941. Prior to entering the US Navy in 1952, he was employed at Nagle Farm Store.

For the past thirteen years, he was employed as a meat cutter for Wilson Packing Company, Cherokee.

A long time resident of Primghar, and WWII veteran, Mr. Thompson was a member of Saint Anthony's Catholic Church and Chateau Thierry Post No. 36.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; two sons: William and James, both Primghar; three daughters: Mary Thompson, Mrs. Richard (Patricia)Lucas and Maureen Thompson, all of Primghar; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elaine.
