Mrs. Henry Barth Passes Away at Spencer

Mrs. Hattie Barth, nee Strasser, passed away Wednesday, March 9, at the Spencer Hospital, where she was taken a week before suffering from dropsy and cancer.

Mrs. Barth was born in B___ felt, Westfalen, Germany June 4, 1881. She came to America with her family when one year old and her home was in chicago, Illinois unti March 25, 1905, when she was married to Mr. Henry Barth. The young couple came to Everly, Iowa, where they made their home on a farm for thirty-three years. No children were born to this couple, but two nephews, Eric and Herbert Roth were raised as their own.

The deceased was a kind and loving wife and a good neighbor and her home was her castle where she was never too busy to give and to those in trouble or in any way needing help.

She leaves to mourn her besides her sorrowing husband two sisters and one brother, several nieces and nephews, all of whom reside in Chicago except Eric.

Those who came from a distance to attend the services wee a sister, Mrs. Hannah Tromp, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Freetog and their daughter, Lorretta Bayler, and son, her nephew, Herbert, all of Chicago, Mr. Will Barth of South Dakota, Mr. August Barth of Denver, Colorado.

Services were held Saturday at 2 pm at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. She was laid to rest on the Eric Roth lot in the Hartley cemetery. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
