Leland A. Miller

Funeral services for Leland A. Miller were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 1993, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Stephen Kamprath officiating. The honorary pallbearers were Vera Hovden, Walter Banks, Harold Klink, Harold Lange, Delton Lundquist, Ray Knutson, Gib Axdahl, Dinty Moore, LeRoy Holck and Duane Oosterhuis. The pallbearers were Julius Hoger, Bill Simm, Jay Fritz, Denny Mars, Dan Starve, Jr. and Roger Wilson. Marj and Sam Towe and Donna and Kenny Kleihauer were in charge of flowers. A flag presentation was made by Russell West Post of the American Legion. Interment was at [WEST]Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home of Paullina.

OBITUARY

Leland A. Miller, the son of John and Mary Ebert Miller, was born October 28, 1923, in Cherokee County, Iowa. He received his education in Cherokee County schools later graduating from Cleghorn High School.

He was called into service during W.W. II, serving in the Army in the Pacific from 1944 to 1946. On June 18, 1950, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Fife at the Presbyterian Church in Paullina, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple settled east of Paullina before moving north of Paullina, where they farmed for many years. They moved into Paullina in 1980 and Leland retired from farming in 1988. Leland passed away on Saturday, February 13, 1993, at his winter residence in Mesa, Arizona, reaching the age of 69 years, 3 months and 15 days.

He was baptized on November 25, 1923, and later confirmed on May 22, 1938, and was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.

Leland leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Eleanor of Paullina; four daughters: Deborah and her husband, Daryl Currie of Willmar, Minnesota; Susan and her husband, Rich Horman of Maple Grove, Minnesota; Jonie and her husband, Mark Hibbing and Jill and her husband, Mike Rausch, both of Paullina; six grandchildren: Megan Wilson, Justin and Joshua Rausch and Adam, Brice and Grant Hibbing; two brothers: Vernelle Miller of Sioux City and Clifford Miller of Paullina; four sisters: Mrs. Mildred VanDyk, Mrs. Verlie Yockey and Mrs. Vera Stoltze, all of Sioux City, and Mrs. Veniece Young of San Jose, California; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, David, parents and a brother, Eldon.
