Services for Lester Joseph Hagenbucher were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 1987, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa. The Rev. Leroy Riemer officiated. The pallbearers were: Steve Joines, Mike Joines, David Triemer, Greg Joines, Jim Hagenbucher, and Tom Schilmoeller. "How Great Thou Art", "Nearer My God To Thee" and "I'm But a Stranger Here" were sung by the congregation. Organist: Mrs. Verla Hibbing. The final resting place is [WEST] Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
OBITUARY
Lester Joseph Hagenbucher, son of Joseph and Mattie Ries Hagenbucher, was born December 27, 1903, in Peoria County, Illinois. He moved with his parents to the Sutherland area in 1918 and attended school there.
On September 17, 1928, he was united in marriage to Lorna Hoermann and lived and worked in Paullina as a painter and decorator until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.
Lester passed away at Wide View Nursing Home on Monday, December 28, 1987, after an illness of several months and reaching the age of 84 years and 1 day.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna of Paullina; three children: Ronald Hagenbucher of Paullina, Mrs. William (Bonnie) Joines of Meriden and Mrs. Duane (Donna) Main of Cherokee; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Lucile Meyer of Paullina, Mrs. Edna Stover of Hartley and Mrs. Mildred Hanson of Sutherland; one brother: Russell Hagenbucher of Fremont, Nebraska; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one grandson.
