Elroy P. Koehlmoos

Elroy P. Koehlmoos, the son of William and Metha (Richter) Koehlmoos, was born October 15, 1921 near Germantown, Iowa. He was baptized, educated and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa. Following his education he helped his father with the farming.

In June of 1944 he entered the United States Army. He served with the United States Army in the Southwest Pacific and while in the Philippine Islands, he was wounded while serving with the 7th Cavalry Division. In 1945 he was discharged from the hospital at Camp Carson in Colorado.

In 1946 he was united in marriage to Mildred Hibbing. God blessed this union with two children. In March of 1957 his life was saddened by the loss of his wife Mildred in a car accident. He later was married to Betty Cullison. They have lived in the Gaza area for the past 20 years.

About three months ago he was suddenly stricken with a deadly disease which took his life on Wednesday, June 16, 1971, at the age of 49 years, 8 months, and 1 day.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife Betty; his two children, James, still at the family home, and Linda, now living in Minneapolis; his mother, Mrs. Metha Koehlmoos of Germantown, Iowa; his two sisters, Lorraine, Mrs. Darrell Grothaus of Primghar, Iowa, Roverda, Mrs. Ronald Cullison of Paullina, Iowa; his brothers, Leland of Germantown, Iowa, and Orrie, now living in Indianola, Iowa; He is also survived by numerous relatives and a great host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Gerhardt.
