Services for Ernest J. Voss
Services were held for Ernest J. Voss at 11 00 a.m., Monday, May 9, 1983. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Paullina, Iowa: with the Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. Final resting place is the Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, Iowa. Arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
OBITUARY
Ernest J. Voss, son of Fred and Augusta Mehl Voss, was born April 12. 1892, in O'Brien County. Iowa. He was baptized on May 26, 1892 and confirmed April 16, 1905 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. He attended school at St. John's Lutheran School, Germantown.
He was employed in the Paullina area until entering the service to serve during WWI. After that he moved to California and was employed by the Los Angeles school system a number of years.
On May 28. 1939, he was united in marriage to Hermine Riedemann in Los Angeles. After their marriage the couple remained in California fin a couple of years and moved to Paullina in 1942 when Ernest retired.
Ernest passed away Friday, May 6. 1983, at the Hartley Hospital reaching the age of 91 years, 24 days.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Paullina and a life member of Russell West Post of the American Legion, Paullina.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Hermine of Paullina. three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Schorr of Santa Clara, CA Mrs. Barbara Peterson of Fresno, CA. and Mrs. Shirly Clark of Palo Alto, CA.; one son, Marvin in Virginia, one stepson, Vernelle Riedemann of Paullina, many grandchildren, many great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Rose Dornbusch of Paullina and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Kenneth, one stepson: two sisters, one brother and three half-brothers.
