Rita A. Schuetz, 83, of Alton died Monday, November 2, 1999 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 26 at 10:30 am at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Burial followed at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Alton under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Rita was born October 24, 1916 at rural Remsen, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeh (Nacke) Kass. She was raised in the Remsen area and received her education in the rural school.

She married Ralph Schuetz on February 24, 1946, at Remsen. They farmed in the Remsen and Alton area. Mr. Schuetz died September 7, 1981. Rita continued to live on the farm near Altaon until her death.

Mrs. Schuetz was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, the Church Guild, and the Saint Mary's Rosary Society.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Lyle and Janice Schuetz of Alton and Richard and Beth Schuetz of Remsen; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Delores Letsche and Imeldda Roethler, both of Marcus and Georgia Kass of Remsen; four brothers, Joe and his wife Pat of Cherokee; Ray of Marcus, Charles and his wife Donna of Sioux City, and Leo and his wife Gwen of LeMars; a sister-in-aw, Shirley Kass of Oyens, and a brother-in-law, Francis Schuetz of Cleghorn.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Schuetz and a brother, Greg Kass.
