Mrs. Margaret Huehn

Margaret Schaefer was born on August 27, 1860, in Heidelberg, Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in young girlhood.

She was married on December 23, 1884 in Waterloo County, Canada to John G. Huehn. In 1889, they moved to the United States of America and settled on a farm in Osceola County, Iowa, where they lived until 1913 when they retired and moved to Hartley, Iowa.

Eight children were born to this union: Edward of Webster City; Clara Bettinger of Round Lake, Minnesota; Oscar, deceased, Elizabeth Lamb of Lake Park, Iowa; Norman, who is in the Veteran's Hospital, Saint Cloud, Minnesota; Nettie Woelfle of Inglewood, California; and John of Omaha, Nebraska.

Grandma, as she was known to all her friends, loved her home, her family, and her Saviour. She was happiest when she could work with the plants and flowers in her garden and enjoyed sharing them with her chidden and friends. She was thankful for the privilege of helping her loved ones and friends whenever help was needed.

She lived alone in her own home in Hartley which was her greatest wish, and did her own work. About six months ago, her children and her kind neighbors gave her the needed assistance with her work.

On December 18 she was taken to the hospital in Hartley where after much suffering due to the infirmities of age, she peacefully passed away on December 30, 1950, at 3 a.m. to be with her Lord to whom she so earnestly prayed to take her home. She reached the age of 90 years, four months, a three days.

She leaves to mourn her passing her seven children, 3 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Her husband, Mr. Huehn, passed away ten years ago.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:330 at Foley's Funeral Home and 2:00 at the Methodist Church in charge of Reverend Raymond A. Roloff. Interment was made in the Hartley Cemetery.
