Mrs Esther M. Meltvedt, a long time resident of this community died here November 19, after a lingering illness. She was able to be about home and social activities until the last few weeks. She suffered a slight stroke on November 12 from which she did not recover.

Esther M. Thompson, daughter of Bartel [sic] and Anna Thompson was born January 15, 1867 at Leland, Ill. and died at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 4. In the year of 1868 she moved with her parents to the vicinity of Marshalltown, where she grew to womanhood.

She was married to Andrew Meltvedt of that vicinity Jan. 20, 1886. In the spring of that year they moved to O'Brien county, near Paullina. In the year 1918 they retired from the farm and moved into Paullina.

Six children were born to them, three daughters and three sons, Alice, Raymond, Amy and Burton at home, (Olive) Mrs. John Thiesen of Lakefield, Minn, and Walter of North Platte, Neb.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1943.

She leaves to mourn her passing her six children, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law and one granddaughter, Mary Ellen Thiesen. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Knudson, LeGrand ; Mrs. Bertha Test, Paullina; and one half-sister, Mrs. Ida Teigh of Minneapolis, Minn, and one brother, Alfred Thompson, Ortonville, Minn., besides many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday a t 2-00 p.m. with Rev. H. Lybeck officiating. Interment was made at Prairie View cemetery. Pallbearers were Earl Test, Arthur Knudson, Delbert Hodgdon, Jonas Stangeland, Kenneth Medhus and Isaac Henderson.
