William John Miller, 80, Paullina, died August 26 at the Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. August 29 in the Gaudian Funeral Home at Paullina. The Rev. Richard Kuckhan will officiate and burial will be in the Paririe View Cemetery at Paullina.

Mr. Miller was born November 27, 1893, in O'Brien County. He married Elsie Puhrmann March 28, 1928, at Paullina. They farmed near Paullina until moving into town in 1963.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Donald of Paullina and Orlyn of Minneapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Loyce (Elaine) Cates of Cherokee; Mrs. Wilmer (Ruth) Hohbach) of Marcus, and Mrs. Gene (Charlotte Grefe of Tempe, Arizona, fifteen grandchildren; and two brothers, Ed and Charles, both of Paullina.

WILLIAM JOHN MILLER

William John Miller, son of Charles and Minnie Schuknecht Miller, was born November 27, 1893 in Union Township, O'Brien County, Iowa.

He was baptized December 7, 1893 by Rev. Jacob Horn at St. John's, Germantown, and confirmed April 12. 1908 by Rev. Oscar Horn, at St. John's, Germantown He was married to Elsie Puhrmann on March 28, 1928 by Rev. John Hartmeister at Zion Paullina. They farmed for 35 years, retiring in 1963 in Paullina. In 1965 he joined Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa.

To this union .6 children were born: Donald of Paullina; Elaine, Mrs. Loyce Cates, of Cherokee; Ruth, Mrs. Wilmer Hohbach, of Marcus; Charlotte, Mrs. Gene Grefe, of Tempe, Arizona, and Orlyn, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. A daughter, Arlene, preceded him in death, at the age of 10 years, in 1943. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren, 2 step-granddaughters, and two brothers, Ed and Charles, of Paullina.

Others who preceded him in death were his parents, a granddaughter, Marilyn, and a daughter-in-law, Maurene, a brother John, and two sisters, Clara, Mrs. Ed Van Dyke and Alma, Mrs. William Koester.

Services were held at the Gaudian Funeral Home in Paullina, on Thursday, August 29th at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Richard Kuckhahn officiated.

Pallbearers were Douglas, David, and Bruce Hohbach, Paul Cates, Bradley Meyer, and Paul Miller.

Mrs. Robert Dorr served as organist, and Mrs. Austin Veach was soloist.

Final resting place was Prairie View Cemetery
