Cora Dell, daughter of Lyle Daggett and Mary Ellen Ellis, was born September 15, 1886, on the family homestead, six miles north of Sanborn, where she spent her childhood and early womanhood. She attended the Goewey Township schools and the Harding Church. For a number of years she assisted her father in his milk and cream business by keeping books.

On October 16, 1907, she was united in marriage with Ralph R. Petrich. They started farming on the William Wackerbarth farm in Goewey Township. Three children were born to this union: Lloyd of Boise, Idaho, (Maude) Mrs. A.H. Erickson of Spencer; and Leland at home.

The family has always resided in the Sanborn vicinity. In 1936 they moved to a farm in Lincoln Township where she resided until her death. On August 5, 1952, her husband passed away. She continued to operate the farm with the help of her son Leland.

Her interests centered around her home, church and friends. She would always go beyond her physical endurance to do a neighborly deed or act of kindness. Her family and church found her insistent to go "the second mile" in doing her share, and was possessed with the fortitude to rise to meet any task which confronted her.

When a girl Mrs. Petrich united with the Methodist Church. On July 29, 1900 her membership was transferred to the Methodist Church at Sanborn where she has always been an active and devoted member. She was a member of the WSCS and for several years served in an official capacity.

Besides her children she leaves to mourn her passing, four grandchildten: Marilyn Zarbnisky and Janice Petrich of Boise, Idaho; Kenneth Petrich of Chicago, Illinois; and Scott Erickson of Spencer; one sister, Mrs. Fred Petrich and a brother, Frank Daggett, both of Sanborn; also, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church in Sanborn on Thursday, May 7, at 2:00 P.M., with Rev. Hodgkin officiating.

A mixed quartet, composed of Mrs. William Dummett, Mrs. Jack Chrisman, Charles Oostebrug and Henry Grooters, rendered two selections, "The Rock That Is Higher Than I" and "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". Accompanist was Mrs. Harold Saupe.

Nephews acting as pallbearers were: Donald Daggett and Harold Daggett of Melvin, Wilbur Daggett of Harris, Max Whittlesey, Chris Rasmussen and Willis Petrich, all of Sanborn.

Honorary pallbearers, long-time neighbors and friends, were: Gerrit Van Engen, John Winkel, Harry Muxlow, Herman Neitzke, and John Getting. Mrs. Henry Wieman and Mrs. Wilmer Van Engen were in charge of the flowers.

Interment was in Roseland Cemetery at Sanborn, under the direction of the O'Brien Coop Burial Service.

Relatives attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. P.J. Petrich, Omaha, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. John Petrich, New Effington, S.D., Gerhart Petrich and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Petrich, all of Rosholt, S.D., A.G. Petrich, Hankinson, N.D., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rice, Slayton, Minn; Mrs. Anna Daggett, Mrs. Vera Uhlenhopp, Mrs. John Daggett and William Daggett, all of Windom, Minn., and Mrs. Kenneth Perry of Colorado, Springs, Colo.
