Services Were Held Wed. for Charles Bruns

Charles E. Bruns, 85 of Granville died Monday, May 18 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church at Germantown. Rev. Charles Kramer officiated. Pallbearers were Curtiss Koehlmoos. Mervyn Hoermann. Bernard Bruns, Leslie Bruns, Dale Bruns, DeLoy Bruns and Bradley Bruns. "How Great Thou Art" was sung by the St. John Lutheran Church Choir and "Rock of Ages" was sung by the congregation. The organist was Mrs. Charles Brockmann. Burial was in Prairie View cemetery near Paullina under the direction of the Gaudian Eldridge Funeral Home of Paullina.

Charles Earl Bruns, the son of Theodore and Elizabeth Sieling Bruns, was born on April 15. 1896 in rural O'Brien County. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on July 5, 1896 and later confirmed on February 19, 1978 at St John's Lutheran Church at Germantown. He attended rural schools in Baker Township in O'Brien County.

He was united in marriage to Lena Stroman on April 5, 1922 in Primghar. To this union seven children were born. After their marriage the couple farmed in Baker Township until retiring in 1962 and remained on the farm.

Charles entered St Joseph's Hospital in Sioux City a few days ago and passed away on Monday, May 18, 1981 reaching the age of 85 years, one month and three days.

Charles was a member of St John Lutheran Church at Germantown.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Lena, his children, two daughters, Mrs. Burnell (Clara) Koehlmoos and Mrs. Betty Hoermann, both of Paullina, five sons, Leo Bruns of Peterson. Ralph Bruns of Aurelia, Charles Bruns, Jr. of Primghar, Richard Bruns of Paullina and Dennis Bruns of Germantown; also 24 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one brother, Raymond Bruns, of Narka, Kansas.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters and one son-in-law.
