Norma Jean (Huntting) Knock

Norma Jean (Huntting) Knock was born on June 3, 1934, in Marcus, IA. She was the daughter of Edward Huntting and Pauline (Putnam) McDonald and step-father George McDonald.

Her childhood years were spent in Hartley, IA. She graduated from Hartley High School in 1952.

On August 22, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert Knock at the United Methodist Church in Hartley. The couple made their home on a farm near Melvin, IA. They were blessed with two children, Brad in 1955, and Shelley in 1959. They farmed until retiring and moving to town in 1998.

Norma joyfully took care of her home and family. She loved special decorating and baking for the holidays. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and spending time at Lake Okoboji with her family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, where she served on the funeral committee and sang in the choir.

Following a second battle with cancer, Norma passed away at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA, on October 6, 2011, at the age of 77.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Bob; her children, Brad Knock and his wife Carol of Melvin, and Shelley Hardie of Watertown, SD; six grandchildren: Tracy and her husband Jamin, Katie, Haley, Courtney, Kelsey and Heath; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Kallie; other relatives and many friends who were so dear to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
