Funeral services for Ellen M. Pauling were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 1992, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa, with Rev Charles Kramer officiating. The pallbearers were Randy Dau, Jason Pauling, Troy Willson, Jeff Cullison, Jarrod Pauling and Mark Hibbing. Mr. & Mrs. John Strack and Mr. & Mrs. Roy Ebel were in charge of flowers.
The final resting place is [West] Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home of Paullina.
OBITUARY
Ellen Maria Pauling, the daughter of Chris and Hattie Lange Hellmann, was born July 6, 1913, in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. She received her education at St. John's Lutheran School in Germantown. She was baptized on August 5, 1913, and later confirmed on April 10, 1927, and was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown.
On September 17, 1932, she was united in marriage to Walter Pauling in Germantown. After their marriage they settled on a farm west of Germantown where they farmed for many years. The couple retired in 1979 and moved into Paullina. Walter preceded her in death on January 1, 1990, in Primghar. Ellen continued to make her home in Paullina until entering the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar and passing away on Tuesday, February 4, 1992, reaching the age of 78 years, 6 months and 28 days.
Ellen leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Geraldine Dau of Holstein; Barbara and her husband Jerry Cullison of Paullina; and Debra and her husband Jim Benner of Granville; one son: David and his wife, Rita of Paullina; seven grandchildren: Randy Dau, Jeff Cullison, Jason and Jarrod Pauling, Derrick, Alex and Rachel Benner: nine great grandchildren; also a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law, two grandchildren, parents and one brother.
