Services held for Walter E. Pauling

Funeral services for Walter E. Pauling were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 1990, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa, with Rev. Charles Kramer officiating. The honorary pallbearers were Lyle Koehlmoos, Floyd Wallin, Leonard Pauling, Elwood Koehlmoos, Roy Ebel and Leslie Kruse. The pallbearers were Randy Dau, Jason Pauling, David Hibbing, Jeff Cullison, Jarrod Pauling and Troy Wilson. Mr. & Mrs. John Strack and Mr. & Mrs. Francis Carlson were in charge of flowers.

The final resting place is [West] Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, IA, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Walter E. Pauling, the son of Henry and Sophia Ebel Pauling, was born January 5, 1909, in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He received his education in St. John's Lutheran School in Germantown. He was baptized on January 15, 1909, and later confirmed on March 25, 1923, and was a life- long member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Germantown.

On September 17, 1932, he was united in marriage to Ellen Hellmann in Germantown. After their marriage, the couple farmed west of Germantown for many years until their retirement in 1979. At this time, the couple moved into Paullina. Walter passed away on Monday, January 1, 1990, at the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 80 years, 11 months and 26 days.

Walter leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ellen of Paullina; three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Dau of Holstein, Barbara and son-in-law, Jerry Cullison of Paullina, and Debra and son-in-law, Jim Benner of Granville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Rita Pauling of Paullina; seven grandchildren: Randy Dau, Jeff Cullison, Jason and Jarrod Pauling, and Derrick, Alex and Rachel Benner; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Ed Pauling of Lamberton, MN.; and one sister, Mrs. Ida Hoger of Hartley; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, two grandchildren, parents, five brothers and two sisters.
