Hans Christian "Chris" Anderson (1886-1954)

Hans Christian Anderson, son of Hans Christian Anderson, and his wife, Anna nee Thompsen, was born on June 23, 1886, at Norrl Nebel in Denmark. He was born into a family which event­ually totaled nine children.

In 1892 Chris came with his family from Denmark to the Paullina area.He received his education in the Paullina School and also attended a Commercial Business College at Des Moines. In 1907 Chris homesteaded on a farm near Winner, S. Dak. The rest of his active life was spent in farming in the Paullina and Primghar Communities. He and his wife retired to the town of Primghar in 1953. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

On November 21, 1917, Chris married Mabel Cockle. The young couple moved to a farm south of Paullina. Two children were born to them. One dying in infancy. Chris and his wife observed their 45th wedding anniversary on November 21, 1962.

Chris had been in poor health during the last few years of his life. Death came Sunday afternoon, Sept. 13, at the family home in Primghar. He reached the age of 78 years, two months and 21days.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mabel Anderson of Prim­ghar, one daughter Mrs. William (Donna) Klinker of Storm Lake; a sister, Mrs. Marie Smith of Long Beach, Calif.; two grand­sons, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, two brothers, and one son in In­fancy. Services were held Sept. 16, from Grace Lutheran Church at Primghar with Rev. Lowell Hohensee officiating.

Pallbearers were Oscar FJeld, Carl Klinker, Alvin Fjeld, Bob Conn. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, under the direction of the Gaudian Funeral Home.
