1881 - LOUIS PUHRMANN - 1940

Louis Puhrmann was born in Homewood, Illinois, November 23, 1881. There he was baptized and confirmed in 1894 he came to Iowa with the family and settled on a farm, joining the Germantown congregation. June 7, 1903, he was married to Doris Brlnkmann, now his surviving widow. Six children were born to them, all living, Walter at Lake Park, Ernest, Burnell, Verna, Mrs. Joens, Florence, Mrs. Koehlmoos and Marvin, still in school.

If Mr. Puhrmann had any internal ailments, hardly anybody knew it. He and his wife together with his brother George and wife had just returned Sunday night from a visit at Chicago to their brother. On Monday morning he got up at the usual hour and felt glad to be back in Iowa. A soft rain was falling and he opened the door to let in some of that fresh morning air. When he started to the bathroom he fell. His wife rushed to his side for aid, but it was too late for help. In her arms he passed away. A stroke had cut short his earthly pilgrimage of 58 years and ten months.

He leaves to mourn his widow, four sons and two daughters, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, seven grandchildren, brothers and sisters and a great number of other relatives and friends. He was a voting member of our congregation.

Interment is to be on Thursday from Zion Lutheran church, the Rev. J. Hartmeister officiating and preaching the funeral sermon.
