Ethyl Mae (Adams) Foley (1902-1984)

Ethyl Mae Adams, the daughter of Millard and Yotal Adams, was born at Osceola. Following graduation, Ethyl attended Drake University. In the early 1920's, she moved to Sanborn to teach school.

On June 2, 1926, she was united in marriage to Walter Justin "Buzz" Foley of Sanborn. To this union four children were born.

Buzz and Ethyl spent their entire married life in the Sanborn community. Buzz passed away June 20, 1979. Ethyl passed away on November 8, 1894 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at Spencer, having reached the age of eighty-two years and fourteen days.

She is survived by her children: Mildred (Mrs. Ron Schluter) of Ida Grove, Edna (Mrs. Otto Tonner) of Primghar, Walt, Jr. of Syracuse, NY,; son-in-law Delbert Schwien of Hartley; 12 grandchildren, one brother, Roy Adams of Des Moines; and a sister, Edna Carter of Rochester, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews including Leonard Foley of Sanborn.

Ethyl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; daughter, Margaret Schwien; and two brothers, Warren and Clifford Adams.

She was a member os Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church, Saint Cecelia's Guild, the Twentieth Century Club, and the Royal Neighbors.
