Services in memory of Henry Harms were held 10:30 a.m. Thursdy, January 28, 1988, at Trinity United Church of christ of Hartley. Rev. Jean Rosewall officiated. Committal service was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa.

Henry Harms, the son of Evert and Theda Bodewitz Harms, was born May 23, 1903 ot Obdepekele, Netherlands. As a youth, he attended shcool in the Netherlands. At age 17, in 1921, he came to the United States and made his home and worked in the Boyden, Iowa, and Valley Springs, South Dakota, area.

He was united in marriage to Gertie Korthals on October 24, 1932 at Matlock, Iowa. They farmed near Beaver creek, Boyden, and on a farm southeast of Hartley, Iowa, until moving into town in 1969. He also worked as a carpenter for Rachuvy Brothers Construction, retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, and the Men's Brotherhood.

He passed away at the hospital in Hartley, Iowa, on January 26, 1988, at the age of 84. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, and four sisters, all of the Netherlands.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife; two daughters, and their husbands, Evelyn and Charles Bruns, Jr. of Primghar, and Beverly and Darwin Dau of Paullina; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, John of Fulton, Illinois; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Metje) Hommes, and Mrs. John (Grietje) DeVries, both of the Netherlands; other relatives and friends.
