Last rites for Ed Riedemann

Funeral services were held for Ed Riedemann on Thursday, August 11 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Hartley. The clergyman was Reverend Francis Mennenga. Casket bearers were Karl Riedemann, Richard Dittberner, Melvin Richter, Clark Albert, Irvin Brinkert and Robert Gable. Interment was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley, Iowa, with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge.

Edward Henry Riedemann, the son of Henry and Louise Riedemann, was born June 18, 1891 at Germantown, Iowa in O'Brien County. He attended school near his childhood home.

He was united in marriage to Louise Zinn on January 26, 1916 at the bride's home near Hartley. They farmed near Hartley for many years.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Hartley, had served as an Elder, a Trustee, and also on the building committee.

He passed away at the hospital in Hartley on August 8, 1977 at the age of 86. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife in 1966, six brothers, an infant daughter and one daughter-in-law.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons and their wives: Irvin and Billie Riedemann and Kenneth and Connie Riedemann, all of Hartley; seven grandchildren: Stephanie Dittberner, Deborah Johnson, Christine Kolb; and Paula, Karl, Nancy and Jody Riedemann; three step-grandchildren: Candice, Clark and Carol Albert; and six great-grandchildren: Chad and Jason Dittberner, Kelly Johnson, Kashia and Kyle Kolb and Timothy Riedemann; one sister: Mrs. Ben (Millie) Beur of Lake Preston, South Dakota, other relatives and friends.
