Mrs. Edward (Caroline) Beermann, nee Pauling

As was reported in the last Issue of the Times, death again visited St. John's congregation and caused sorrow not only in the home of the deceased but also among her many relatives and the members of the congregation. Throughout her life, Mrs. Beermann had been a devoted and active member of the Lutheran Church. As she was a regular attendant at public services, she will be sorely missed.

She was born May 3, 1860, in Cooper's Grove, near Chicago, Illinois, but in early years became a resident of O'Brien County. After entering the holy state of matrimony with Mr. Edward Beermann, May 30, 1886, the young couple moved onto a farm adjoining Germantown where they continued to live till 1913, when they retired. In Germantown, near the church, they erected a comfortable home and here Mrs. Beermann ended her days, December 4th, attaining to an age of 68 years, 7 months and 1 day.

Mrs. Beermann was tenderly devoted to her family and rarely came before the public eye. It was her delight to serve those near and dear to her, though she was herself in delicate health, her attentions were directed not so much to herself as to her beloved husband whom she considered in greater need of care. She was however also ever ready to assist others outside of her family circle to the best of her ability.

The attendance at her burial which was held on Friday afternoon, was a testimony of the love and esteem in which she was held. Her relationship is a numerous one and completely filled the large part of the church which had been reserved for them while those who had come to pay their last respects practically filled the remaining pews of the spacious church. Among those who had come from a distance were the Louis Kruse family from Springfield, Minnesota, and Mrs. August Pauling from St. Paul, Minnesota.

Besides her grief-stricken husband, Mr. Edward Beermann, she leaves to mourn her death, her four sons. William and Edward of Iona, Minnesota, John and Clemens, of Paullina, one daughter, Mrs. Anna Dobbertin, also of Paullina, ten grandchildren, four brothers, Fred, Edward, William and Henry Pauling, and one sister, Mrs. L. [Louise] Beermann all of O'Brien County.
