Elsie Irene (Larson) Lange (1914-1997)

Elsie Irene Lange, the daughter of Lars and Anna Peterson Larson, was born September 19, 1914, in Paullina, Iowa. She attended country school and later graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1930. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, and received her teaching certificate. She then taught in rural schools in the Cleghorn area.

On May 21, 1938, she was united in marriage to Harold Lange in Paullina, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple farmed south of Paullina until moving into Paullina in February of 1975.

Elsie had made her home at the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina since December 1 of 1995. She passed away on Sunday, January 5, 1997, at the Orange City Hospital in Orange City, Iowa, reaching the age of 82 years, 3 months and 16 days.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Society of the church.

Elsie leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Harold of Paullina; two sons and their wives: Douglas and Wilma Lange of Buffalo, New York, and Loren and Rosemary Lange of Potomac, Maryland; four grandchildren: Bonnie, Matthew, Katherine and Jeremy; a sister, Mrs. Teresa Grahn of Willmar, Minnesota; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharron Lynn; parents; two brothers, John and Lars; and two sisters, Bertha and Anna.
