Maria Dorothea Friederike (Lange) Wollenberg (1856-1933)

Maria Dorothea Friederike Wollenberg, nee Lange, was born February 24, 1856, in the Province Pommerania, Germany. In 1861, at the age of five, she came with her parents to America.

The family settled at Thornton, Cook County, Illinois. There Mrs. Wollenberg grew to young womanhood and married September 8, 1872. Mr. Wollenberg died May 5, 1922.

Two children, Mrs. H.M. Schulz and Mrs. William Hoermann were born to this union. The Wollenbergs came to Iowa in 1883, Caledonia township, and joined Saint John's Lutheran church at Germantown. Mrs. Wollenberg, in her last years was feeble, but her daughter, Mrs. H. M. Schulz, took good care of her.

On Friday morning, she fell asleep and was buried on Saint John's Lutheran Cemetery at Germantown last Sunday afternoon. Rev. H. Steger spoke the German, and Rev. J. Hartmeister of Paullina, the English funeral sermon.

Mrs. Wollenberg leaves a brother, Mr. Chas. Lange, and a sister, Mrs. Sophia Eggers of Chicago, Illinois, two daughters, two sons-in-law, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Her age was 77 years, six months and one day.
