Edward Lange, Former Sutherland Resident, Dies

A heart attack took the life of Edward Lange. Paullina, early Sunday morning. Mr. Lange, who had remained active up to the time of his death, became ill shortly after midnight and died about 2:00 a.m.

The Langes farmed at Paullina until they moved to a place near Sutherland in 1940. Upon retirement in 1957 Mr. and Mrs. Lange moved to Paullina.

Funeral services are to be held Wednesday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran church at Paullina. The Rev. Paul Sohn will officiate. Pallbearers are to be Charles Bowd, Harry Lietz, Clarence Meyer, Louis Lange, Louis Appeldorn, Arthur Woghan. Interment will be in Prairie View cemetery, Paullina.

Mr. Lange is survived by his widow, one son and three daughters. a son, Harold, Paullina and daughters, Mrs. S. J. Parizek of Chicago; Mrs. Alfred Recker, Paullina and Mrs. Jack Ault of Pampa, Texas.

1888 - EDWARD J. LANGE - 1983

Edward J. Lange, son of Louis Lange and Emma nee Kluender, was born on Dec. 24, 1888 on a farm in Caledonia township, O'Brien county, Iowa. On Sept. 28, 1910 he was married to Martha Wrede, to them seven children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Lange spent their entire lives farming. About seven years ago they retired and moved to a home in Paullina. About two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Lange celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

The deceased had been in apparent good health when he was suddenly taken ill on Sunday morning, May: 26, and died at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 2 days.

He is. survived by his wife, Martha, of Paullina, one son, Harold, of Paullina; three daughters, Eleanor, Mrs. Severin Parizek of Chicago, Illinois, Helen, Mrs. Alfred Recker of Paullina; and Marlys, Mrs. Jack Ault of Pampa, Texas. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers William and Arthur Lange of Paullina, and one sister, Mrs. Gus Appeldorn of Pipestone, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons and one daughter.

Interment was in Prairie View cemetery, Paullina, following services held at Zion Lutheran church, the Rev. Paul Sohn officiating.
