Arthur Lange (1897-1973)

Arthur Lange was born April 21, 1897 at rural Paullina, the son of Louis and Emma Kluender Lange. He was baptized, confirmed and educated in the St. John Church and School at Germantown.

On February 1, 1920 he was married to Hilda Strampe and to this union three children were born. The Langes farmed in the Paullina area until they retired in 1962 and moved to Paullina.

Survivors include his wife Hilda, one son Louis of Paullina, two daughters, Verlie, Mrs. Walter Hibbing of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Myrne, Mrs. William Ruchensky of Sioux City, 8 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Gus Appeldorn.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 17 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Germantown with Rev. Armin Prowatzke officiating. Pallbearers were Louis Appeldorn, Clarence Meyer, Kenneth Lange, Orlynn Strampe, Merlin Peters and Martin Strampe. The congregation sang three hymns with Mrs. Clarence Hibbing as the organist. Burial was in [West] Prairie View cemetery under the direction of the Gaudian Funeral Home.
