LAST RITES FOR JOSIE JACOBS JANUARY 7

Funeral services for Josie Jacobs were held at the Hartley United Methodist Church Monday morning, January 7. Rev. Clair Kerns officiated. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Josie Jacobs, the daughter of Clarence and Charlotte Watson Tippetts, was born July 9, 1894 at Campbell, Nebraska. She graduated from high school at Franklin, Nebraska and then became a school teacher.

She was united in marriage to Wilmer Jacobs on July 3, 1929 at Franklin, Nebraska. They made their home at Hartley, Iowa and Josie continued to teach school. She taught for a total of twenty-nine years before retiring.

She was an active member of the United Methodist Church at Hartley, holding several offices and also belonging to the Women's Society and Circles. She was a member of P.E.O. and the Order of Eastern Star, as a Past Worthy Matron. After retirement, she enjoyed belonging to several bridge clubs.

She passed away at the hospital in Hartley on January 4, 1985 at the age of 90. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two brothers and three sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are four sisters, Mrs. Erva Carey and Mrs. Florence McKee, both of Franklin, Nebraska, Mrs Orval (Chrystal) Weaton of Kellogg, Iowa, and Mrs. Howard (Viola) Dufford of Beatrice, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
