Services for William G. Graves Held Mon.

Services were held Monday at the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church in Hartley for Gobel Graves, 58. Mr. Graves passed away suddenly Saturday, following a heart attack.

Mr. Graves moved to Hartley as a young man and operated a barber shop here for 35 years. He was also an insurance agent for the past few years. Following is the complete obituary:

William Gobel Graves, the son of William Green Graves and his wife, Eva, was born on October 25, 1899, at Anabel, Missouri. He died at his home in Hartley on July 14, 1956, after a sudden heart attack at the age of 56 years, 8 months, and 20 days. He attended school in Anabel and moved to Hartley as a young man. He became a well known and well liked barber in this community and worked for 35 years at the trade. He was engaged in the insurance business for a time.

On October 4, 1926, he married Elsie Hass at Primghar and to this union two children were born: Gretchen, Mrs. Charles Young, of Primghar, and Richard, who is now a student at Cedar Falls. Two grandchildren also brought him much happiness.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, his two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Eva Graves of Anabel, Missouri; his sister, Mrs. Opal Cox, and brother, Mr. T.J. Graves, also of Anabel; his son-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and many friends. A sister preceded him in death in 1932.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 16, at Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church with Reverend Ralph Maschmeier officiating. Wayne Muhs and Jake Moermond sang two duets. A Memorial for the Music Fund at the Church has been established by the family.

Interment was in Pleasant View cemetery. Pallbearers were Merle Smith, Rich Anderson, Harry Ketelsen, Baxter Clayton, Ingwer Hansen and Bill Hesse.

The Foley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
