Funeral serviceds in memory of Matilda Dorothy Rieck were conducted Tuesday, September 12, 2000, at Saint John's Lutheran Church at May City, Iowa. Pastor Paul Johnson officiated. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery of Hartley, Iowa. Warner Funeral Home of Hartley was in charge of the arrangementss.

Matilda Dorothy Rieck, the daughter of August and Hansine Jacobsen Ewald, was born September 5, 1915 in LeMars, Iowa. She attended country schools and Le Mars School.

She was united in marriage to Harry Rieck at her parents' home on September 3, 1939. They made their home on a farm near May City, Iowa until retiring and moving into Hartley, Iowa in 1978.

Tillie was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church in May City where she had tagught Sunday School and was active in several ladies organizations. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, fishing, bowling and playing cards in her leisure time. SHe was a very generous and loving woman, who put everyone else's needs ahead of her own.

Tillie passed away on September 9, 2000 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry, on March 1, 1996, her two sons, Richard and Kenneth; and her sister, Helen.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Barb and her husband, Bob Bodenhamer of Fountain Hills, Arizona and their family; her granddaughter Carrie and her husband, Ed, from West Liberty, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends.
