Charles Hammond Templeton was born at Ottawa, Illinois, January 19, 1853, and died Sunday, July 3, 1927 at 1 a.m. at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 14 days. He had for years been suffering from a complication of heart and kidney trouble which finally caused his death.

As a boy he moved with his parents to Everly, Iowa, where he lived for a number of years on a farm. As a young man he worked for eight years as a fireman on the Iowa-Dakota division of the Milwaukee Railroad.

In 1885, he returned to Galena, Illinois, and married Miss Mary M. Ball. To this union, a daughter, Myrtle, was born, who died at the age of 16 in 1904.

After his marriage he returned to Everly whee he lived for three years. Afterwards moving with his family to Hartley. After a residence here for some 5 years, and a time at Sibley, and a short residence in one or two other places, he came eight years ago to the present home at Milford, where he lived until the time of his death.

Mr. Templetown was one of a large family of ten children, 7 daughters and 3 sons, all having preceded him in death except one sister, living in Chicago.

He leaves to mourn his death his widow and Mrs. T.E. Miller, his sister, besides nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.

He was a member of the Methodist church of Milford, and a member of Gloaming Lodge No. 482 AF & AM of Milford and of the Mystic Shrine of the 82nd degree consistory of Sioux City, and Gloaming Chapter 225 OES of Milford.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon under Masonic auspices with services conducted by the Rev. Theodor Jorgensen, in the Methodist church. Interment was made in the Hartley cemetery besides his daughter.
