John Albert Kimblad was born in Haaland, Sweden, Oct 20, 1885 a son of Karl and Johanna Swanson Kimblad and passed away Jan. 19 at Ward Memorial Hospital, Primghar, after a brief illness. He reached the age of 76 years, two months, and 30 days.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sweden He immigrated to America and settled in Chicago in 1905 and became a citizen of the United States in 1911.
He came to Iowa in 1914 and began farming in the Remsen area with his brother, Martin. He was united in marriage to Esther Swanson September 23, 1916 in Chicago. Three children were born to them-Arthur and Axel of Paullina, and Helen (Mrs. Carl Mathern) of Gaza. The family moved to a farm northeast of Paullina in the spring of 1930. He and his wife retired and moved to Primghar in the fall of 1948 and became residents of Paullina in 1956.
Besides his wife and children his survivors include 7 grandchildren, his sisters and brother, namely, Selma Olson and Martin Kimblad of Castro Valley, Calif., Linnea Nelson of Marcus; and Emma Carlson and Martha Nelson in Sweden. A brother, Jon, preceded him in death.
