Remsen - Mrs. Frank (Elizabeth) Kass, 99, of Remsen, died Monday, July 5, 1993, at her home in Remsen after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Kass was born March 1, 1894 at rural Remsen, the daughter of George and Anna (Recker) Nacke. She was raised and educated in the Remsen area, attending Saint Mary's Catholic schools. On January 30, 1913, she married Frank Kass at Remsen. The couple farmed near Remsen until the fall of 1948 when they retired and moved into town. He died December 2, 1974.
Mrs. Kass was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include four sons, Joseph and his wife, Patricia, of Cherokee, Raymond of marcus, Leo and his wife, Gwen of Le Mars, and Charles and his wife, Donna of Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. Carl (Dolores) Letsche and Mrs. Ray (Imelda) Roethler, both of Marcus, Mrs. Ralph (Rita) Schuetz of Alton and Georgia Kass of Remsen; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gregor (Shirley)Kass of Le Mars; 34 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Fred and Joe Nacke, both of Remsen; and a sister, Mrs. Ed (cecelia) Vandermark of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gregor; three sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law; a grandson, Allan Kass; two granddaughters; a great-grandson; four brothers, Frank, Anthony, George Jr., and Henry Nacke; and four sisters, Sister M. Georgia, Order of St. Benedict, Sister M. Columna, Order of St. Benedict, Mrs. Joe (Rose) Kestel, and Mrs. Grant (Frances) Shaffer.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Remsen, with Rev. John J. McGuirk, Rov. James J. Tigges, Rev. Paul Eisele and Dean Allen Weiler concelebrating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
