Wilbert Otto Roggenburg, the son of Otto and Johanna (Newkirk) Roggenburg, was born June 6, 1913 at Harris, Iowa. He was educated in rural schools near his childhood home.

He was united in marriage to Rose Mohni on January 2, 1937 at Hartley. They farmed in the Everly and Hartley area until moving to Hartley in 1976. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley.

He passed away at the hospital in Hartley on September 25, 1986 at the age of 73. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Mrs. William (Minnie) Schultz of Mount Vernon, Missouri.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rose; one son and his wife, Clifford and Marlys of Hartley; two grandsons, Randy and his wife Amy of Ankeny, and Darin of Hartley; one brother, Walter of Hartley and one sister, Mrs. Cecil (Dorothy) Reimers of Tacoma, Washington; as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held for Wilbert Roggenburg at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley Saturday morning, September 27. Rev. Clari Kerns officiated. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
