Joachim Strampe, deceased, was born Nov. 26, 1835, in Lueder Prov., Hannover, Germany. He was the youngest of eight children. 48 years of his life he spent in Germany, In 1861 he was united to wedlock with Dorathea Burmeister. This long and very happy union was blessed with four children, all of whom are known and respected citizens of this community. They are Henry Strampe, Fred Strampe, Mrs. Hartwig Meyer and William Strampe.

In 1883 the deceased with his devoted wife and those of his children who had not before came to America and located on a farm near Germantown, O'Brien County, Ia., where they remained until 1904, when they retired from active farm work and moved to Paullina. The deceased enjoyed the very best of health, and up to a few years ago was able to perform more physical labor than many a man of twenty and more years his junior. It seemed, however, as though all the illness that he had missed during his long life came at once when last October his health began to fail. From that time till yesterday he suffered most dreadfully, and it was almost impossible for one to be with him for a long time. His most devoted wife, however, bore with him with almost super human endurance. At 5 o'clock on Wednesday morning all this suffering came to a blessed end . His death is mourned by his widow, four children, and thirty-one grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The funeral will he held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the home and at 2:30 at the German Lutheran Church of which the deceased was a most active member, interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery.
