Fred Strampe, son of Joachim Strampe and Dorthea nee Burmeister, was born October 20th, 1867, near Hannover, Germany, In the year 1883 he came to America settling in Caledonia Township, near Germantown.
On October 16, 1892 he was married to Mary Dobberin. They spent 26 years farming near Germantown, and in 1918 moved to Paullina.
For a number of years Mr. Strampe was engaged in the livestock business, and sold many carloads of cattle and hogs in the Chicago market.
He became suddenly ill about two weeks ago and passed away January 16, 1958. Mr. Strampe was well known in this section of O'Brien County.
He leaves to mourn his death seven sons and five daughters. One daughter Ida, and his wife preceded him in death.
The children are Ernest Strampe, Fred Strampe, Albert Strampe, Mrs. Arthur Lange, Mrs. Archie Dance of Paullina, Reinhold Strampe of Omaha, Nebr., Raymond Strampe of Los Angeles, Calif., Delbert Strampe of Sioux City, Mrs, Earl Clay of Hartley, Mrs. Carl Kruse of Calumet and Mrs. Wm. Schunke of Black River Falls, Wisc.
Also twenty-five grandchildren, and forty-one great grandchildren. Also a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held January 18th at 1:30 from the Gaudian Funeral Home and at 2:00 from the Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. Paul Sohn, officiating.
Mrs. James Meyer sang the very beautiful song, "Asleep in Jesus."
Pallbearers were Louis Lange, Martin Strampe, Orlynn Strampe, Darrell Strampe, Gary Clay, and Merlin Peters. Burial was made in St. John Cemetery at Germantown.
