Mrs Joachim Strampe Passed Away Sunday

Mrs. Joachim Strampe passed from like Sunday evening, November 1st, in the home of her son Fred at about ... 'clock. Funeral services held from the home and the Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon. Rev. A. H... was the ....clergyman.

Mrs. Strampe had been in declining health for some time. Her condition was not unusual being about ... had been for some time. About.... o'clock supper was taken to her as ....in her bed. As food was offered to her she suddenly collapsed and ...from the life. Her death ... the passing of one of the older members of this community, having ... from Germany in 1883, locating in Caldonia township.

Dorthea Maria Elizabeth Strampe (Burmeister) was born Nov. 4. 1837... Hannover, Germany. On the 12th of ... the same year she was baptized into the Christian faith. On..1861 she was united in holy ... with Joachim Strampe, who was called into eternity after the couple spent 54 years in wedded life. Four children were born to this couple. ....country by 1882 and in 1883 the .... of the family came over and located in Caldonia Twp., O'Brien Co., Iowa. The parents made their home with their daughter for four years and then they took up farming for themselves. In 1904 they retired to Paullina. In 1911 they were permitted to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Grandfather Strampe died ... 21, 1915. Since that time grandmother Strampe made her home with her children.

She was never sick in all her life and never found it necessary to call in a physician till recently fell and ... her arm. Old age affected ... and mind during the last year and ... came to her as quite a relief. Had she lived til Nov. 4th she would have been 88 years old, then was laid to her resting place on her 88th birthday.

Her departure is mourned by her four children, Henry Strampe, Mrs. Hartwig Meyer, Fred Strampe, and William Strampe all of Paullina; and their respective helpmates, 31 grandchildren, two sisters and 1 brother and a host of other relatives and friends.
