Mrs. Herman Fintel Passes away Sunday

Mrs. Herman Fintel was the youngest of three children born to Mr. and Mrs. George Morhman. She was born February 19, 1852, at Hanover, Germany. She was baptized in infancy, and later confirmed in the Lutheran church of her home town. About ten years later she came to the United States, locating first at Davenport, Iowa, and subsequently at Durant, Iowa, at which place she married Herman Fintel in March, 1882. One year following they made their way to Dysart, Iowa and two years later moved to a farm at Gladbrook, Iowa. In 1886 they resumed the westward journey, coming to Paullina, where Mrs. Fintel remained until her death, July 30th, 1933, at half past five in the morning.

To her husband, Mrs. Fintel was a staunch and loyal helpmate, sharing with him all the hardships of early pioneer life until his sudden death in November, 1914. From the time of her husband's death, Mrs. Fintel's health began to fail gradually, so that she could not be about at all times, and was forced to confine herself to her home. Until her health completely failed, Mrs. Fintel was an exemplary housewife, and neighbors and friends always found a hospitable welcome in her home.

The deceased is survived by six children, Henry, Adolph, Harry, and Arthur, Laura, and Ella, and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Arthur Fintel, two grandchildren and one brother.

During her illness throughout the last two months, she was ministered to by the loving care of faithful relatives and close friends, who sought day and night her comfort and rest.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church with the Rev. Walter R. Clyde, Jr. officiating. Interment was made in the Prairie View Cemetery.
