Alice Eugenia Weale, the daughter of Edson and Rosa Mae (King) Bertram, was born on February 5, 1924, in Redwood, NY. She was raised and attended school in Redwood, graduating in 1941. She then attended House of Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Watertown, N.Y, graduating in 1945 with a R.N. degree.

On November 14, 1945, Alice married Evan Rice Weale at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Redwood. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Sutherland, where they resided on a farm South of town until they moved into Sutherland in 1980. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee from 1960-1980.

Alice was an active member of the United Methodist Church and was also involved in the Methodist Women and served as President. She was a Worthy Matron in the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served on the Board of Northwest Iowa Aging Association for 9 ½ years. The couple did lots of traveling and spent many winters in Florida. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, crafts, puzzles and Bingo. She moved to Omaha on July 31, 2006, to be closer to family.

Alice passed away on September 9, 2018, at Heritage Sterling Ridge in Omaha, at age the of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Evan in 1994; her great granddaughter, Emma Jo Olsen; her brothers: Richard, Howard, Merrill and Wayne Bertram; her sister, Mildred Ames; her sisters-in-law: Maurine (Loren) Ewoldt and Ruth (Alton) Rine.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dennis (Cindy) Weale of Omaha, NE; her daughters: Cheryl (Domenic) Viola of Youngstown, OH and Nancy (Tim) Benson of Omaha, NE; her six grandchildren: [redacted] ; her seven great grandchildren: [redacted]; her sisters-in-law: Eleanor Wayman, Margaret Bertram and Lottie Bertram; her many cherished nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
